Actor Raúl Arévalo recalled the ups and downs of his acting career in a recent interview with Cadena SER , where he confessed that, after his first major television role, he found himself without money and had to look for work outside of film. His story, full of effort and humor, puts the difficulties of the artistic path into perspective.
In front of the microphones and alongside journalists Àngels Barceló and Luis Alegre, the Madrid-born actor, who premiered the musical comedy Voy a pasármelo mejor last Friday, reflected on his beginnings in the series Compañeros . Although that experience led him to believe his future in acting was assured, the reality was very different.

"First I made Compañeros , which I thought was a piece of cake, and that suddenly from then on I'd always be working as an actor. I became independent, ran out of money, and had to start working at other things," he explained. For five years, Arévalo held jobs as a wedding planner and an entertainer at Ikea before finding stability again in acting: "During Valentine's Day, I recited verses from Romeo and Juliet in bed; it was surreal."
Arévalo's career has been marked by both perseverance and strokes of luck, as he himself acknowledges: "This is a long-term profession and you have to have attitude, aptitude and a lot of luck ; and I have had that." The actor has commented that his talent was supported by key figures such as Maribel Verdú , whom he defines as an "older sister" and who also facilitated his arrival at Los girasoles ciegos .

Arévalo has played numerous roles in prominent Spanish films, and has accumulated four Goyas for Best Supporting Actor for Gordos in 2010; and Best Film, Best New Director, and Best Original Screenplay for Tarde para la ira in 2017. This film marked his behind-the-scenes debut, reflecting on personal experiences and the essence of the neighborhood where he grew up , Móstoles. Although he's now established in the film industry, Arévalo hasn't forgotten his origins or his difficult years.
